I got a call from Big Jim Jones about a problem in a house and he asked if I could join him for the investigation. Of course I said yes. Having only one of my team members available at the time we packed up the equipment and headed off to a place on the Baltimore county and Harford county line.
Kathy and I started setting up our equipment as Jim talked to the owner to see what was going on. Upon setting up three cameras, one in the basement, one in the back room and one in the master bedroom, the investigation was under way. The husband of the house stayed in the living room and watched the monitor and Jim and I went in the basement to take some pictures and just listen. Kathy and the wife started in the master bedroom. After about a half an hour of picture taking we took a short break.
After the break we shifted gears and started an EVP session. Jim and I started in the back room where there were reports of a lot of activity. Kathy and the wife of the house went to the basement. Jim stated he felt something in the middle of his back at one point and it was moving to his left hand side. I took a few pictures but nothing showed up. A short time after that Jim stated his arm was getting real cold but we were not sure if it was because he was close to a window. At one point I did smell what seemed to be perfume. It was faint at first and then got real strong then dissipated quickly.
After another short break, Jim and Kathy headed to the basement for an EVP session, and I went to the master bedroom with the wife. There had been a lot of reports from the owners that the master bathroom would have activity at night. Just about every night around 3 am they would hear something or see something. One night the husband woke up and saw a black figure standing over his wife. The daughter would be talking on the cell phone and there would be a voice that took over and she is the only one that would hear anything, the other party on the phone would not. After about 45 minutes we took a short break.
Upon starting another EVP session, Jim and Kathy headed for the basement, The wife and I went to the back room. We started doing our EVP session by asking the same questions that most teams do. We did not hear any voices out loud, but at one point near the end of this session; I started to hear a scratching sound near the door we came in from. It was faint at first and then I would ask a question and it would get louder. As I moved the recorder closer to where the sound was coming from it stopped.
I was told from the owner that her son had played with the Ouija board and this is around the time things started to happen.
After the investigation was over we packed up our gear and headed off. I called the owner the next day to see how the sleeping went that night. She said everything was fine and they both got a good night sleep. She did state that she heard a noise in the basement in the morning but got a good night sleep. The following day I called for an update and I was told there was no activity. Wednesday I called and I was told her son came home, ha had been at a friends house for a few days.
He came home for lunch. The wife was in the back room painting and came out the living room to get something and saw a black figure standing there during the day. Now we figure that this thing may have something to do with the son after playing with the Ouija board.
I looked over all my pictures and did not see anything that I would call paranormal. I listened to my Evp’s and did not get anything that would be called paranormal.
After talking to the owner, we are setting up another investigation as a follow up. We want her son home this time to see if anything happens since it seems to happen when he is home.
I will update this page after the second investigation takes place.
Kathy's Discoveries
--> Friday 5/16/08
--> Place, Private Home, Joppa, MD
We arrived at the residence about 8:00 and after talking with the owners and their children for a while we headed into the house to begin setting up equipment. The rooms with the most activity seemed to be the owner's bedroom (Master bedroom), the basement, and a room in the back of the house. That is where we positioned our cameras. We had the monitor set up in the living room. We were only able to have 3 people on this investigation instead of a full team.
We began the investigation with the home owner and myself in the Master bedroom of the house while BJ and Jim Jones from PrisMD were in the basement. The husband was in the living room watching the monitors. We sat quietly for about 30 minutes just taking pictures and trying to get a feel of the room. I did not experience anything strange during this time. We did hear a strange noise like the rattling of keys as we were finishing this part of the investigation. Upon asking everyone if they had keys that could have moved and made the noise, I was told that no-one did. The home owner's husband (who was watching the monitors at the time) thought it may have been some dishes or silverware in the sink, but when we checked it, the noise did not really sound the same.
We took a short break and then the home owner and I went to the basement of the home to do an EVP session. We were there for about 40 minutes. During this time I did not hear or see anything unusual. As we were coming up the basement steps, both of us did get colder. The home owner has reported feeling very warm when she enters the basement, so this was unusual for her to feel cold.
After taking another quick break I went to the basement with Jim while BJ and the home owner went to the back bedroom. We did another EVP session, but again, did not notice anything unusual. We took another short break and continued doing our EVP session in the basement, BJ and the homeowner went to the back room of the house to continue with their EVP session. When we finished, we wrapped up the investigation. After reviewing all of the pictures I took and listening to all of the recordings, I did not get anything unusual.
It was mentioned that the owner's son had played with a Ouija board in the home and after he did so, the activity began to start. The son was not present during this investigation. When BJ spoke to the owner to see if any activity took place after we left, she reported that there had been none, however, the next time her son was in the house a dark mass was seen.
We will probably be doing another investigation of this home and hopefully the son will be present as it is possible that the activity could be connected to him.
Jim Jones Discoveries
On May 15, 2008, the Paranormal Research and Investigation Society of Maryland (PRISMd.) was contacted about a possible demonic type haunting. Chief Investigator Jim Jones spoke with the client from Joppa, Maryland. The client advised of situation where the son had played with a Ouija board with friends in
a local cemetery. Now the activity in the home became more active, placing the remaining children in danger.
From dark shadowy figures, scratching in walls, radical temperature changes, to physical attacks on the inhabitants, the client needed help as soon as possible. Immediately after gathering the information, C.I. Jones contacted Lead Investigator B.J. Moylan from Perry Hall Paranormal Research Society. Information was exchanged, and the investigation was planned for Friday, May 16th.
C.I. Jones arrived at location and met up with L.I. Moylan, and Investigator Kathy Cooper. Both teams entered the residence, and interviewed the property owners. Investigator Cooper gathered information from client, and both teams were taken to the spots in the residence with the activity. Base readings were taken, and video cameras were put into place.
While adjusting the video camera in the basement, L.I. Moylan requested C.I. Jones to come upstairs to view video screen. What was seen by both investigators were a strange light anomaly that appeared, travelled in a figure eight pattern, and exited the screen. At this time, the camera was placed in the best possible position, and the recorder started. To lead off the investigation, L.I. Moylan, and C.I. Jones headed for the basement. At the top of basement staircase, C.I. Jones heard a distictive scratching noise from beneath staircase. Immediately, the EMF readings were taken, with temerature and humidity readings as well. Although the scratching ceased, high EMF readings were recorded. This was traced to a lightswitch at top of staircase. Clients advised that light standard connected to this switch, the bulbs last only for a few days. Temperatures were about 62 degrees with 51 percent humidity where the drop was about five degrees and percent respectively.
Both L.I. Moylan, and C.I. Jones investigated the basement, Investigator Cooper and client were in the master bedroom. As both Jones and Moylan investigated the basement, to the rear which contained the electrical panel, and hot water heater, Moylan advised Jones of a smell of cat urine. No felines were in location. EMF readings were taken, with no unusual spikes noted. As both investigators moved back toward staircase, Jones noted the same smell on opposite side of basement. Both Jones and Moylan sat for approximately 1/2 hour trying to make contact with possible entity. Photos and readings were taken, with no unusual outcome other than a photo of light anomaly.
Investigator Cooper and client went into basement, while Jones and Moylan entered the clubroom. While in the clubroom, EVP recordings and photos were taken. At several points, cold spots were felt by Jones, and Moylan photographed. Nothing was noted, but was possible draft from window. Ambient temperature only dropped about three degrees from 64 to 61. Constant reading of 53 percent humidity was kept during session. Session ended with no noticable activity.
The teams reconveined on the first floor, where the client's husband continued viewing the monitor. Nothing noted. The teams were split up, whereas the client and L.I. Moylan went into master bedroom, and C.I. Jones and Investigator Cooper went into basement. The EVP sessions began with both teams on opposite sides of house. After the 1/2 hour session, Moylan and client went to the clubroom, while Jones and Cooper proceeded to the forward part of basement. Photos and EVP recordings were taken without incident. As Cooper and Jones were exiting the basement, Jones cought a smell of lavender near top of staircase. Jones moved back down, and walked back up to see if the smell remained. At this time, the smell has dissipated. No change in ambient temperature, or humidity. After returning to first floor, L.I. Moylan advised of scratching sounds while investigating the clubroom. The sounds increased prior to end of session.
The investigation concluded at approximately 2:15 a.m. Analysis of evidence to be done by team.
